How to Install a Custom Printed Gazebo Valance Banner on an Existing Gazebo

A custom printed gazebo banner is an affordable way to add your logo, business name or services to a plain gazebo without replacing the entire roof. This guide explains how to install a printed gazebo front banner safely and correctly.

Your printed gazebo valance banner comes with loop Velcro sewn onto the back. Matching hook Velcro tape is supplied for attachment to the front of your existing canopy.

Recommended method: Sewing
For the strongest and most reliable result, we recommend sewing the supplied hook Velcro onto your existing canopy. This is the best option for markets, events and regular commercial use.
Alternative method: Carefully applying heat
The hook Velcro has a heat-activated adhesive backing. It may be attached with an iron, but excessive heat can damage the canopy fabric or waterproof coating. Always use a low temperature, a protective cloth and test a hidden area first.

What You Will Need

  • Your existing gazebo canopy
  • Your printed gazebo front banner
  • The supplied hook Velcro tape
  • A measuring tape and removable fabric marker
  • Sewing clips or pins
  • A sewing machine and strong polyester thread
  • An iron and protective cloth if using the heat method

Step 1: Check the Banner Position

  1. Remove the canopy from the frame and lay it flat on a clean surface.
  2. Place the banner along the front of the existing canopy.
  3. Centre it carefully and check that the design is straight.
  4. Mark where the hook Velcro needs to be attached.

Check the complete position before attaching the Velcro. Make sure the logo and wording will sit correctly when the gazebo is assembled.

Step 2: Position the Hook Velcro

  1. Remove the printed banner.
  2. Place the supplied hook Velcro along the marked position.
  3. Keep it straight and secure it with clips or pins.

The adhesive backing may help hold the Velcro in place, but sewing is still recommended for long-term use.

Step 3: Sew the Velcro Onto the Canopy

  1. Sew along the top and bottom edges of the Velcro.
  2. Sew securely across both ends.
  3. Check that there are no loose sections.

Keep the stitching close to the Velcro edges and avoid sewing repeatedly over the same area. If you do not have a suitable sewing machine, an alteration shop, upholsterer, canvas repairer or sailmaker may be able to help.

Alternative: Attach the Velcro With an Iron

  1. Check the canopy manufacturer’s care instructions.
  2. Test a small hidden area first.
  3. Turn off the steam and use a low temperature.
  4. Place a clean cotton cloth over the Velcro.
  5. Press gently for a few seconds at a time.
  6. Allow the area to cool before checking the attachment.
Important heat warning:
Gazebo materials and waterproof coatings vary. Heat may cause marks, discolouration, distortion, melting or damage to the waterproof coating. Heat installation is completed at the canopy owner’s risk.

Step 4: Attach the Printed Gazebo Banner

  1. Reinstall the canopy onto the gazebo frame.
  2. Start attaching the banner from the centre.
  3. Work towards both ends while keeping it straight.
  4. Press the Velcro firmly together.
  5. Check for wrinkles or loose sections.

Why Sewing Is Recommended

  • Creates a stronger and longer-lasting attachment
  • Avoids heat damage to the waterproof coating
  • Performs better during repeated setup and pack-down
  • Is more suitable for commercial and outdoor use

Can I Iron the Velcro Onto My Gazebo?

Yes, the supplied hook Velcro has a heat-activated adhesive backing. However, sewing remains the recommended method because gazebo fabrics and coatings respond differently to heat.

When using an iron, always select a low temperature, use a protective cloth and test a hidden area first.
